Inching my way to a full week back in Oz. After fourteen years I can share the best bed partners with you, while adjusting my sleeping patterns and they are undoubtedly the Radios I listen to. C lives with a radio on 24/7, and while to start with I objected, now I am a convert for the nights. BBC goes on as we go to bed and soon ABC sneaks its way in and Reading Radio makes up the shortfall.

The air is cool, the window is open, my mind is quiet and gradually fills in the night. Infantino digs in his heels. Trump is in a catering truck. Perhaps he should have stayed there. Colombia suffers devastation and Australia has its Census day.
I wake up to streaming sunshine, blue skies and bird calls. The radio has been better than any sleeping pill, a gradual lullabier, a soothing sound and a source of fascinating stories and information.

The power of Radio not lost on me – the enduring coverage of the BBC for all those out there with little other means. My Community Radio, Reading Radio on a smaller and more intimate footing but nevertheless a source of information and solace. Many of the stations are under threat as costs escalate, profits difficult to come by, digital and social media stealing what is left.
Waking up to a bright sunny day – birds not back yet.
