Nefeli

For posterity, for a vision I thoroughly enjoyed. No photos other than the place it all unfolded, which is this.

People watching is the dream of beach holidays – but this was even better. Nefeli a two year old with a pink hat which covered her two pigtails and kept her neck out of the sun and her pink costume, playing on the edge of this beach with her Greek father, who pretended to be a crocodile, and her German mother who was always smiling with her hands held outwards in an embrace of her little girl. An older couple to my eyes. Perhaps a precious one child. She is.

Eventually the father was fast asleep on a lounger and mother was on one too, but of course more vigilant. I had the perfect pleasure watching as she entertained herself and us. Running to the edge of the water, splashing and then dancing on the shore. She had several dance moves including doing a downward dog and kicking her little legs in the air. She gathered sand in her hands and let it slide through her fingers, found pebbles and tossed them in the sea and twirled and danced on the seas edge with such sheer joy and exuberance her mum and I had a permanent smile on our faces. Perfect connection with her surrounding. Total pleasure. That’s it. Made my day.
