This village is situated in Cenderawasih Bay National park on the mainland. There is a road leading to nearest town several hours away. A clinic with some interesting posters for child immunisation, an ambulance and a police station. The houses are more solid and the school building is spanking new.

The welcome here had a personal touching aspect to it. We stepped on paddles laid in the sand for us.Leaving evil behind. As we got off the xplorer children came to take our hand and with great smiles they led us to the central square.

A band played and the dancers came out, both young boys and girls and they performed a themed dance. Dressed in costumes resembling birds of paradise who mate for life. They danced gracefully until a hunter came and in spite of the birds coming together, one of them was killed by an arrow.

As we explored the village we came across pagoda flowers and betel palm trees.

We walked up to the local cemetery and one tombstone was different. Someone who clearly loved the sea.

And my favourite encounter of the day was this little doggie getting a ride.
