Lost and found.

My sense of direction is pitiful but the joy of that is that when I set out in a direction I thought I knew I sometimes end up somewhere else – and so on this latest walk I had some lovely ‘new moments’ in the neighbourhood. A bench constructed for all to share but with ample room for a tree to grow large in the corner of it.

Just in front of the bench the overhanging branches of the astonishing petrea volubilis. You can understand that last name. It’s just so prolific in its flower droops. This one nearing the end of flowering and the purple tips confined to the end of the droops.

Fretworks- Breezeways as they are called, are so characteristic of Queenslanders. Not just pretty but also enabling air flows into the house. I had never seen these two before – the second looking like a harp or musical instrument.

Classics put to good use. Here is an interesting use of Joseph Conrad’s book – propping a ladder for an Aussie tradie on the roof !

And on this post box I caught a little gecko flipping over on its back to catch the sun – and here it is sunbathing – it was off quickly but it made me smile.

Both of us enjoying the return of the sun. I celebrate the birth, a while back of a middle child, also a sun worshipper, who has carved his special place on this lucky continent.
