All creatures great and small

The New year began with the appearance of this magnificent sight in my kitchen. A moth in the form of an angel no less. The spirit of my sister Niki nestled in a corner of my kitchen.

The days roll by but not without the delight these two bring to our evenings when we are having our dinner and they come to share the aperos on the deck. The baby is growing quickly and will soon be off mum’s back for good.

And then since the New Year just outside our bedroom window the appearance of a Golden Orb spider complete with tasty meals of flies and other insects trapped in its web and the males around it looking for an opportunity to mate. They are tiny compared to her. The web stretches wider and wider and viewed from a particular angle it is Golden.

In the dark with the light behind you can see how extensive and golden the web is.

It seems to be very comfortable where it has chosen to hang out. Just so long as it does not decide to take a walk into my bedroom.

And for the first time ever a blue tongued skink in the garden.

That was a real surprise. We live among them, so far happily, each within our own space.
