It’s round one of the Easters. We are a mixed family. Half Anglican with a preponderance of Greek Orthodox. Memories of my Austrian nanny Erika blowing eggs empty so we could paint them for the Easter Tree. Making daisy chains when out in the fields in Cyprus as spring coloured the country side. We eat hot cross buns but also hanker for a good flaouna, a strange mixture of a savoury and sweet Cypriot pastry, not to mention tsoureki the platted bread. Greek Easter is a while away yet.
With little family around and nothing to anchor the customs, I feel their absence. So off I head into another part of Paddington and I find the most delightful item in an op shop, one of the only ones open along my way. Its a small case beautifully painted offering Primitive Blessings. If these are from the earth and flowers and animals I am happy to share them with you.

My route is full of colour though the road is quiet and there is a serenity about. People are tidying up their gardens, throwing some lamb on the bbq, reading a good book. The kids are looking for a chocolate egg in the garden and I suspect if you ask them what Easter is all about most would say the Easter bunny and chocolate.

I stop for what grabs my eye and I love those pops of colour, their punch too when breaking through a backdrop of green.

My treasured moment of this day is this sighting. An accessorised doggie and van.
