Bondi to Coogee

This is one of my absolute favourite walks in Sydney and I walk it whenever I am in the city. A beautiful sunny day with not much wind. Popular as ever but always exhilarating and rejuvenating.I started in Bondi and made my way past Icebergs to those lovely rock formations just around the corner.

Just before Tamarama, at Marks Park I spot Soli the Seal and watch it frolicking, rolling and clapping its fins. Just a speck near the rocks.

Tamarama with its stretch of white sand and protected cove. Not a crisp bag in sight or rubbish anywhere. Nor expensive sun beds and umbrellas.

And this is how the youth spend their day here.

Onto Bronte and then crossing Waverley cemetery (Must be the best place on earth to rest in peace facing that ocean).

Along the way I come across Keizo Ushio’s Twice Twisted Bands – I met him on a previous walk when Sculptures by the Sea was on. He works in Granite.

Just imagine drawing back the curtains every morning at this window overlooking the ocean. I spot Wedding Cake Island in Coogee and head back. Nick did the challenge there a few years back. https://www.coogeesurfclub.com.au/coogee-island-challenge.html

13.5 kms all in all and on the way back I bump into dear friends from Geneva days. A sun-filled, friendly and interconnected world.

Thanks Marina. I just love that walk in my old home territory. I learned to swim at Clovelly Sat half my teenage years in Coogee Beach with friends and have my mum & dad in the cemetery by the sea. You have walked just near my sisters place just 1 from the corner in Moore street just up from Gordon’s Bay. And it looks like you had great weather.
