Yes, there are a few days which are like this. It’s winter remember. I still cant marry winter and June. We may need to hang onto this image. El Nino is apparently now upon us.

I love those raindrops suspended on the berries. The dew on the Poinsettias.

Over the weekend just gone, I took myself off for a walk in the hood which is something I love doing. Most days this is what Brisbane offers me in winter.

Colours of red and white for those celebrating the strange custom of Christmas in July. The term, if not the exact concept, was given an airing with the release of the Hollywood comedy “Christmas in July” in 1940. Legend says it’s thanks to some Irish tourists who were visiting the Blue Mountains in July 1980. They convinced the proprietor of a local hotel to have a ‘Yulefest’ party to celebrate Xmas in July and it was such a success that the hotel ran it again the next year and the idea caught on. Now ‘Christmas in July’ celebrations are a popular winter activity and are often celebrated on the 25th of July each year but any day in July is OK too.

Time to get those awful jumpers out – remember Colin Firth in Bridget Jones!
