Vacant Assembly

I am always excited to discover new venues even after having lived in Brisbane now longer than I have lived anywhere else. Vacant Assembly which is on Montague Road in West End is a delightful centre of creativity and arts. Its a large warehouse with functional exhibition spaces, workshops, and much else. Pots of paint brushes grace the trestle tables and splatters of paint suggested much use of the venue. Ceramics sit waiting to be used in events. There is a no plastic policy, they run two worms farms, recycle all cans and bottles and reuse and repurpose materials for the centre.

I went along to see the tail end of a wilderness exhibition. It really was the tail end but I met Greg and we chatted about the centre and all that it offers.

So here is the link and here are some of the details. https://www.vacantassembly.com/events

I am going to the college event in a couple of weeks and much looking forward to it. There is a garage pilates on the same day and Greg’s pop up bakery with some really delicious treats on offer.

Check it out and support in any way you feel is good to you. There are many events, functions and sponsorships to choose from.

In other news this magnificent creature came to the deck last night and sat quietly taking in our chatter and the Empire Podcast over dinner. Such a treat to see it. It stayed with us for over an hour.

William Dalrymple said it was a bit sceptical – what do you think ?
