Parrot – Or in Aussie slang “Pissed as a Parrot”. Yup they get drunk too.Not just us dropping off the perch. Pardon the pun – they do too and they have a particular time of year, not far from our celebrations when they just get a little tipsy and wild. Drunk parrots and humans can be reckless. Here is a Rainbow Lorikeet I found on the deck today. I thought it may have been stunned but on closer examination whatever it was killed it outright. It does have the look of a bird that has had a good time. Such a beautiful bird, such glorious colours. Even in death I thought it was OK to share it with you.

There are various culprits – next door we have the China Doll Tree. Listen to them having a party.

And further up the road the Umbrella Tree , another great favourite which has similar effects on them.

Lessons to be learnt – stop after the second drink !
