How can anything as beautiful and ethereal as this be given such an inappropriate name ?

Delving into this a little more Calliandra haematocephala gives it a better ring and yes you guessed it, its not native to Oz but come from Suriname in South America.

I have never seen it used in a hedge and I thought it was quite delightful. Its not just a pollinator and loved by bees and butterflies but apparently has anti oxidant properties and is good for cystitis, prostate inflammation and even HIV and cancer!

Now if you were a bee wouldn’t you make a bee line for this one ?
