Montville with Snow White.

Cabin fever has set in, the weather remains unsettled but the forecast was hopeful so we headed to Montville and Kondolilla National Park where we had two beautiful walks, one to Obi Obi Creek and one to Baroon’s Lookout which was spectacular like many lookouts in Australia.

On our way to Obi Obi where we had our picnic on a rock.

We walked through bushland shaded by the huge Blackbutts and eucalypts and loved the play of light on the forest floor where fern fronds caught the light and our eye. The trees towered above us, their canopies often hidden from view.

Others were displaying forms of undress.

Mushrooms appearing on the path and bright red seeds sitting in boats of bark.

Even a very unusual hollow complete with bench, looking like some ogre about to swallow anyone who sat on it.

We arrived at the Lookout and to our left was Baroon Lake and below us the valley and the river.

We chatted to a twitcher about his love of peregrine falcons which nest in these cliffs and who are seen flying in the valley. We wandered back along creeks and gushing rivers. Finally there was a cool breeze.

No walk in the wood would be compete without some mythical creatures. Snow White and the Seven dwarfs suddenly appeared with enough gnomes to fill many a garden.

Avenues of flowering tibouchinas for our return journey.

One response to “Montville with Snow White.”
