The enduring beauty of the human form.

No visit to Melbourne would be complete without a visit to the Hellenic Museum housed in a beautiful building which used to be the Royal Mint.https://www.hellenic.org.au/

We can never lose sight of how the female form was not only celebrated but created all those years ago and mercifully and miraculously survived to allow us to enjoy them to this day.

This is a Mycenaean Figurine similar to the letter Φ in the Greek Alphabet. They were found in children’s graves or shrines and may have represented deities or divine nursemaids and children’s companions. There is something totally wholesome about her shape.

This is an image of a crouching female which may have been worn as a pendant and this one is a Cycladic female figurine which looks as if she is a little fed up of being told what to do. The male form also give us something to enjoy – like this Cypriot figurine who seems to be wearing a very top hat or tiara.

And just the sheer naked beauty of the male body ready to compete in the Games.

Much to celebrate whatever your shape or form.
