Growing old is great… sometimes.

Yes we are getting to the pointy end and it can be a bit achey and arthritic. Teeth trouble, creaking bones – you get my drift but there are some upsides and I just had one.

A day of domesticity. More Domestic Grunge then Domestic Goddess. Nigella what have you done to us? Two separate events occurred which for good reason I needed to address with hubby by way of reproach and a little bleached resentment.

So off I went upstairs to find him and give him a bit of a telling off. Only problem was by the time I got up there I had forgotten what they were. I laughed to myself and tried to concentrate hard to remember.

It didn’t come back to me for a while and when it did – well I delivered the reproach but kindly and he took it graciously.I was at that point laughing out loud at my senior moment. In that time he placed the last rose from the garden on my bookshelf disarming me completely. A delayed gratification of sorts for both!

An unexpected upside of growing old I would say. What are yours?

  1. Growing old is not for the feint hearted! I loved your story. Giggled out loud. I’m going to start adopting ‘sayings’ as most older folk become know for their sayings. First marvellous!! What a marvellous story you told.
