Tropical to Temperate

Arriving at Heathrow we were met by our Punjabi driver “James”.We pushed our way through the hundreds of people to the car park and I said jokingly “this is as crowded as the sub- continent. It is only missing the Delhi airport special carpet”. Well I spoke too soon. On the back seat of the car was a carpet. We had to roll it back to strap our seat belts in! On the way, Indian popular music and adverts on buying properties in India.

From the sub continent to Kew Gardens – my last visit there was 48 years ago. I am really that old? There was a lot to remember and enjoy. The hot houses, beautiful iron glasshouses but this time with plants that were so much more recognisable. Many, from Australia, now in my back garden.

Camellias and rhododendrons bursting, horse chestnuts with their sticky buds and cherries with blankets of blossoms.

The history was part of this experience – Kew Palace and the manicured gardens.

Apart from the boys dressing up it was interesting to see the room with mannequins representing the family of George III and his Queen Charlotte. They had no less then 15 children, he had some serious mental issues and she must have died from exhaustion.

The fields were full of daisies and Canada geese and swans.

From there to a french restaurant for a beautiful meal.

The sun shone throughout the day. Happy Easter everyone.
