This is the title of an amazing exhibition I had the pleasure of going to this week. It is a collaboration between The Queensland Eye Institute Foundation, Griffith University and Publicis Worldwide. It has matched 10 vision- impaired Australians with artists who were tasked with recreating the vision they last saw before they lost their sight or their most cherished memory.

Oliver’s view

Oliver with Gill Booysen from Vision Australia

Many of the artists and the vision impaired Australians were there to see and feel the paintings that had been created. They represent meaningful and deep collaborations between them to produce some beautiful art work. Each painting was accompanied by a smaller painting with raised surfaces to enable a tactile experience of the artwork.

The link for the exhibition will take you to the many stories of the participants. Young and older Australians with their Seeing Eye Dogs who have lived successful and fulfilled lives with energy and commitment in their respective fields, with numerous accolades and achievements. If ever there was a group shining a stronger light …

The art works are all up for sale. The proceeds of the sales go to the Queensland Eye Institute Foundation for the work they do in preventing the many cases of vision loss and impairment and in preparing the first genetic eye disease register.

Go online and peruse the art work, listen to their stories on the soundscapes, bid on a painting, read the descriptions and be humbled by what these people have achieved. https://lastseen.com.au/
